Book Description
The day I turned 16, my boyfriend-to-be died. I brought him back to life. Then things got a little weird...
Molly Bartolucci wants to blend in, date hottie Rick and keep her zombie-raising abilities on the down-low. Then the god Anubis chooses her to become a reaper—and she accidentally undoes the work of another reaper, Rath. Within days, she's shipped off to the Nekyia Academy, an elite boarding school that trains the best necromancers in the world. And her personal reaping tutor? Rath.
Life at Nekyia has its plusses. Molly has her own personal ghoul, for one. Rick follows her there out of the blue, for another...except, there's something a little off about him. When students at the academy start to die and Rath disappears, Molly starts to wonder if anything is as it seems. Only one thing is certain—-Molly's got an undeadly knack for finding trouble....

Your Zombie Movie or Mine?
By Michele Vail
I hold a special place in my heart for “Shaun of the Dead.” I was dragged to that movie by two horror writers. (That’s what I get for being friends with horror writers.) But after that movie, I was in love with zombies. I was also intrigued by the idea that zombies could be funny. And that may be why I watched “Zombieland.” Horror and humor? Yes, please.
However, my favorite zombie movies are probably the “Resident Evil” films. I love the way the heroine kicks zombie butt. Also, I wished I looked that good in black leather. I like the science aspect of the virus and the very real face of evil that continually must be battled. In those movies, triumph is always followed by tragedy. Friends become enemies. Enemies become friends. And Alice always shows up to save the day. And kill zombies.I will happily watch a Resident Evil film every year for the next 20. Go, Alice!
In UNDEADLY, my zombies aren’t shambling, scary creatures that creep out of graveyards because they want to feast on you. Rather, zombies are fixtures in the modern world, as commonplace as dogs, cats, and ghosts. Oh. Ghosts are common, too. You won’t find a vampire or werewolf in this landscape, but you’ll find death magic, reapers, and ancient Egyptian gods.
You see, the ancient Egyptians learned to create zombies about the time they figured out how to make mummies. And in the world of sixteen-year-old Molly Bartolucci, who works for her dad’s zombie-making business, zombies aren’t scary. Well, not always. If you don’t control his/her appetite, your zombie will eat your face.
But other than that … just like having a puppy. Really.
Thanks so much for having me on the blog today! And I’d like to ask readers: What are your favorite zombie movies?
