Book Description For STALK ME

Gossip Girl meets Hollywood in this steamy new series by That Boy author, Jillian Dodd.

Keatyn has everything she ever dreamed. Her life is following the script she wrote for the perfect high school experience. She's popular, goes to the best parties, dates the hottest guy, and sits at the most-coveted lunch table.

She's just not sure she wants it anymore.

Because, really, things aren't all that perfect.
Her best friend is threatening to tell everyone her perfect relationship is a scam.
Her perfect boyfriend gets drunk at every party they go to.
It's exhausting always trying to look and act perfect.
And, deep down, she isn't sure if she has any true friends.

To add to the drama, her movie star mom has a creepy stalker.
A hot, older man flirts with her and tells her they should make a movie together.
And she's crushing on an adorable surfer. Dating him would mean committing social suicide.

So she writes a new script. One where all the pieces of her life will come together in perfect harmony.
But little does she know, there's someone who will do anything to make sure that doesn't happen.

Here's A STALK ME Excerpt

He leads me out of the party and across the hall, opens the door to an empty dorm room, turns on a lamp, then gently pushes me up against the door and kisses me.
Again, it’s a slow, soft, amazing kiss. The kind of kiss that makes me feel like he’s kissing my soul.
Oh my gosh. What the heck does that even mean? Kissing my soul? I’m seriously losing it here.
It’s official. Almost getting kidnapped has affected me. I definitely have some sort of post-traumatic stress thing, and the symptoms must include having irrational thoughts about Hottie Gods.
Aiden’s hands are very appropriately placed around my waist and are not moving.
Damn it, man.
Move your hands.
Kiss me with your tongue.
Take my shirt off.
Attack me already. Please! I can’t take it anymore.
But I don’t say any of that. I just savor each and every slow, amazing, and tongue-free kiss.
Maybe he was born without a tongue, I think for a brief second, but then I realize that I am dumb because he wouldn’t be able to talk if he had been, now would he?
He stops kissing me and looks deep into my eyes. I seriously should have guzzled a few shots the second I got here.
But I had no idea he would be here!
The way he’s looking at me is sorta unnerving but, at the same time, like the kiss, it electrifies me. His face is close to mine, but not so much that he is, like, blurry to look at. I figure if he can stare at me, then I can stare back.
And I take in every curve and angle of his face.
The way his jawline is flexing slightly. How his eyelashes are a dark, dark brown and curl upward. How he has a sexy teeny freckle just to the side of his left cheek. How his textbook lips are the exact color of the pale pink roses Tommy gave Mom for their anniversary, and how the sides of his mouth are turning up, starting to smile at me. He blinks slowly. When his eyes open, I study the emerald green of his irises, how they have little flecks of blue in them and maybe even a little gold around the edges. I feel like time is standing still again.
He slides his hands up into my hair and leans in to kiss me again. My body is trying to be good, but I can’t stop it from leaning into him. Melding to his body. I could stay this way forever.
He stops kissing me, looks deeply into my eyes again, and tells me he loves me.
Oh, wait.
He didn’t say that.
I just thought that.
Well, I thought his eyes told me that.
Shut up! It’s what it felt like.
And what the hell is with the going so slow? Does he not want to make out with me? Is he gay?
Finally he says, “You should probably go back and check on your friend. Those guys will get her drunk and take advantage of her.”
“We didn’t drink before we came. She can’t be drunk yet, and you promised me a drink.”
“Also, I don’t want people to notice we’ve been gone very long. They’ll think we’re having sex. We don’t want to ruin your reputation on your second day.”
“I think maybe you just don’t want to be alone with me. I don’t understand. You act like you’re all into me, but then we barely kiss.”
I get irritated and frustrated by this, but no way am I going to be the one to move things along.
And I thought he was a player.
So why isn’t he trying to play me? To use me? To take advantage of me?
I shoulda pretended to be drunk, maybe?

The Author's Guest Post

Five things I’ve learned since becoming a NYT’s Bestselling Author by Catherine Bybee

5.) Just because you make the NYT’s Bestseller list doesn’t mean everyone knows your name. Or the title of your books. Or even that you’re a writer.

4.) Publishers, Authors and Agents will give you a little more attention once you’ve made the NYT’s Bestseller list. Or at least take your calls.

3.) Just because you’ve made the NYT’s Bestseller list with one book…it doesn’t mean you’ll make it there with every book.

2.) Some professionals might be slightly snarky and say things like “What are you doing that’s so great?” *shakes head*

1.)   Making the list isn’t something you can teach, or that you can duplicate with any certainty of the outcome. There are forces beyond sales at work to get there as well as a generous helping of luck.

Culloden
by Bob Atkinson
On the 16th of April 1746 the last major battle was fought on British soil.
When the muskets and cannon of the British infantry had fallen silent, and the smoke had cleared, the grim task of dispatching the Jacobite wounded began.
‘Jacobites’ was the name given to followers of the exiled Stuart monarchy. Their commander in chief, Lord George Murray, had pleaded with Prince Charles Edward Stuart not to risk battle this day. Everything was against them. Outnumbered two to one; many of the clans had still not arrived on the battlefield. Those on the moor were dead on their feet following a failed night attack on the Government camp. Most hadn’t eaten for days. Even the weather had turned against them, the April sleet blowing hard into weary faces.
But worst of all was the ground that Prince Charles had chosen to make his stand against his Hanoverian cousin, the Duke of Cumberland. The terrain was flat and boggy, ideal for defensive artillery and musket fire, but utterly unsuited to the wild Highland charge. Charles had manoeuvred his exhausted army into a Hanoverian firing range.
The battle opened with the bellow of government cannon. Swords and shields were beaten together in impotent rage as iron shot cut bloody swathes through the Highland ranks. They endured perhaps twenty minutes of this, their Prince frozen in indecision, before Clan Chattan finally broke forward into a desperate charge. They were immediately followed by the Camerons, Appin Stewarts and Atholl Brigade to their right, and by the Chisholms, Macleans and ultimately the Macdonalds on the left.
The government cannon immediately changed to grapeshot; jagged pieces of metal that swept through the charging men like shrapnel. This was followed by volley after volley of musket fire.
The moor began to fill with dead and dying clansmen, those in the rear climbing over their own kinsmen to get at the enemy.
On the Jacobite right the Camerons and Stewarts somehow reached the Hanoverian lines. The artillerymen, their guns positioned in the gaps between the infantry regiments, were chopped down by enraged clansmen. To the rattle of musket fire was now added the iron clang of sword on musket barrel. Within a few minutes two of the British regiments on that wing were severely mauled and pushed back onto their second line.
This day, however, the British lines held. Their numbers severely depleted, those clansmen who had survived the charge could make little headway against the muskets and bayonets of the Hanoverian infantry.
All along the line the Highland tide was ebbing back; the surviving clansmen desperately trying to avoid encirclement by government dragoons.
The field between the two armies writhed with the injured and the dying. Already government soldiers were bayoneting and clubbing any clansman showing signs of life.
The slaughter would continue for days.
The government army had fought bravely and well. They had overcome the dreaded Highland charge. Yet one British general would later remark that never had the British army so disgraced itself as during those days following Culloden.
The graves of the Highlanders can be seen to this day, marked by the names of their clans.

Feature & Follow *5*

I'm so excited to share my answer, so here you go!

Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read. The purpose is to meet  people and gain more  followers in the book blogging community.

Q: Activity! Who is your to-die-for book crush? What do you think they look like? Add an image to make us all happy.

This was pretty easy for me :)
Hands Down, Kellan Kyle!! If you know who I am talking about, he's described to basically be some sort of Rock God and really gorgeous and yeah :) This past spring, I read both Thoughtless and Effortless by the Amazing Author: S.C. Stephens. And just wow, I developed a major 'to-die-for book crush' on Kellan, for sure! He's one that has a tough past, but he has heart, and I just believe that's all written so well.

As I was reading the book and receiving the description of Kellan, I instantly thought of actor Alex Pettyfer, so basically I pictured him throughout and I will continue to picture him as Kellan, in the upcoming Reckless, of which I CANNOT WAIT TO READ! Seriously, if you have not read this series, Oh My, you just have to!! Have to! It's purely awesome with a Rock Band, College, and... :)

By the way, I will reread ThoughtlessEffortless in February, before Reckless comes out in March, so you will definitely see my Reviews then :)

Now, who is your TO-DIE-FOR BOOK CRUSH? And remember to share some Pics :)

Short Excerpt:

Logan Mitchell didn’t like to f**k around when it came to business. He was a rarity, a half-breed human/alien who had survived the purge.

The product of an illicit affair between a charismatic human rebel and a sympathetic female alien from the planet Lonegal he was an outsider. He carried his father’s good looks and his mother’s iridescent blue eyes. His skin was tanned and he had the strength of the Lonegal alien race. He carried his father’s name. It was the only thing he had of his father’s as he’d been one of the first victim’s of the purge. He’d sacrificed himself so that his pregnant mother could escape. And charismatic rebel leader or not, all half-breed’s were regarded with disdain and disgust by much of both sides of his genealogical tree.

Faced by discrimination on both sides he took the only job open to most Lonegal half-breeds. The profession of a bounty hunter. Lonegalians were known for their tracking capabilities, especially when crossbred with humans.

The natural inquisitiveness of his human nature coupled with a thirst for vengeance that knew no bounds left him driven and crippled and burdened with a need to make all Lonegal criminals suffer, and the frail human ones pay for their debt to society.

Logan was good at what he did. He was one of the best, if not the best. And after laying waste to the planet Earth, a place still trying to recover from the rape of its natural resources, a planet he called home, he wanted the bastards responsible to pay. And those who had the misfortune of being left behind were first on his hit list.

He walked into his office and let the door slam behind him. Located in Kentucky one would never know it. The Lonegals had strip mined every last it of it, then cleared out most of the forested area. He smelled coffee. His secretary, Elizabeth must’ve come in. She was good at what she did. Research, errands, interviews. She did a lot of foot work, that quite frankly he didn’t have the personality for.

He poured himself a cup of coffee a picked up the pack of cigarettes sitting next to the pot. Like clockwork he thought.

He went to his desk and kicked the door shut and plopped down in his chair and lit up and took a long hard drag. He opened his desk drawer. The Jack Daniels was missing. “Elizabeth!” He shouted more than a little annoyed.

Elizabeth was old enough to be his mother and sometimes she had this annoying habit of trying to act like her. Truth be told he didn’t want to think about his mother. Or be reminded of her. It was too hard. Emotions period were too hard. So he tended not to think of his parents much at all. Although, at moments like these he couldn’t help but be reminded of them.

“Logan you’re going to need everything you got to track this one down,” Elizabeth said dropping the file on his desk.

The bounty hunter community had once been linked by an interglobal computer database. But once the humans drove the Lonegals off of the planet they decided to kill the internet as the world had once known it in hopes that it kept other interested aliens at bay. So far it had worked, at least, they thought it had.

He picked up the file and opened it. “What’s her crime?”

“She was labeled a terrorist by the Lonegals and she was supposed to a part of the bounty the Lonegals took in return for a mass release of human slaves.”

“Alabama Newsome what did you do to piss off my mother’s people?” He asked out loud. “Escaped Lonegal prison. Responsible for the deaths of two Lonegals. Has evaded capture on multiple occasions. Seems to have a sympathetic support base. Political criminal. Known contacts: Logan Mitchell Sr. Update: Still missing, Logan Mitchell Sr.- recently deceased January 2025.” He closed the file and let the gravity of what he’d just read set in. The woman in the picture couldn’t be much more than thirty years old. Which would have made her not even thought of when his father was first taken prisoner in his mother’s place. Yet if what he was to have read was correct his thought dead father had only recently died. He would’ve been sixty years old. He opened the file again. Why wouldn’t he have gotten in touch with his mother? He flipped the page. Alabama believed to be a Lonegal-Human half-breed. Also believed to be pregnant with Mitchell’s child. Early stage of pregnancy. Wanted alive for testing purposes.

He exhaled and closed the file. “Elizabeth.”

She set the bottle down on the desk. “Keep in mind that Lonegal General listed will be here in about an hour to talk about it.”

What Is Bounty Hunter Really All About?

Cowboys & Aliens was a film with a hero in the Clint Eastwood mold. The Man Without A Name kind of feel. And the movie excelled at what it was attempting to do which was mash up to different genres and it inspired my first sci-fi erotic romance in No Ordinary Love and eventually a full novel in Bounty Hunter, my first print book. And it all started from the trailer above.

But what is Bounty Hunter really all about? I wrote a short about Bounty Hunter and Lea said I wasn’t ready to self-publish. Did I resent the comment? Of course I did? I was arrogant enough to believe I didn’t need to develop any further. The irony was, by allowing the story to cook longer I rewrote a longer piece and snagged a print contract in the process. So I actually have Lea to thank for having me heed a better path and Frank for the contract giving me ebook, print, and audio versions of my book.

Bounty Hunter tells the tale of Logan Mitchell a haf-breed human-alien who tracks criminals of both ilk down without much care for what happens to them once they leave his care. But when half-breed Alabama Newsome’s case comes across his desk he is forced to challenge himself on long held beliefs and must decide, turn her over, or face certain death himself and save her life.

As I went along writing it I realized it was becoming a statement on how society treated the ‘other’ and how people who did not look like the majority as second class citizens. At how cultures treat other cultures and how they treat one another. Where do the offspring of these cultures fit and are they treated fairly.

When it comes to Logan his parents loved one another but his mother has always led him to believe his father, a charismatic resistance leader, was dead. The Lonegals exploit that lie and try to lead him down a path where he would become angry and throw Alabama to the wolves but upon meeting her he realizes she is much more complex than the lie and decides to use his skills as a hunter to find out the truth.

Seemingly with all of society on both sides of the family tree working against them I wasn’t sure until I wrote the last page if they were going to end up together. But as the story wound down I realized my own beliefs were at play here. I had given them allies along the way. Even though they were not perfect allies they were allies nonetheless. So if I wanted an optimistic outcome I could give them one.

When two sides have such distaste for one another and one is so clearly in the wrong it is hard to believe that anyone on the other side will make a positive decision. I made my decision in the story and it was emotionally satisfying. I hope you will take the opportunity to check it out for yourself and let me know what you think.
