Review: Dreaming Dangerously By: Kathleen Suzette Harsch

Book Title: Dreaming Dangerously
Author: Kathleen Suzette Harsch
Subjects in Book: Telepathy, psychic abilities, nanotechnology,
Telekinesis, imprisonment, parental pressures,
some typical teenage life, death of parents
Summary:

What if you could HEAR thoughts?
Thanks to her ability to mind-drop, Cassie can hear the thoughts of everyone around her. But sometimes her telepathy is more of a curse than a psychic gift, especially when it comes to Will Rossi.
Reason #1: He pushes his thoughts at her, whether she wants to hear them or not.
Reason #2: His sexy, vindictive ex-girlfriend.
Reason #3: His dimples are absolutely, 100% distracting.
To her surprise, Cassie feels drawn to Will's electromagnetic vibes. Yet, as she falls for him, she discovers their relationship has some serious side effects. She begins to have dreams about the future - dreams that come true in horrifying ways.
Cassie needs to learn to trust Will, or she won't be able to prevent the tragedy she sees coming.

My Review:

Let me say first, I thought this was a fantastic book! I really, really liked this story.  It was just interesting throughout to read what Cassie's and Will's gifts or talents are like, and to see how they deal with them, when they try to live a normal life as well, but are so lucky to find one another and actually talk about something that they kept to themselves. Now, would I want to hear what people's thoughts are? Would I want to be a telepath? I was thinking those questions as I was reading, and it would be interesting for a while, but like Cassie, I know it would feel like a burden after a while, as it seems to be especially in the beginning of the story. It was interesting though, from the first couple of chapters, we learn that Cassie is different, as she is a telepath, and she keeps this as her own secret, not even telling her parents, until she meets Will, a very likable, jock, with cute dimples :) I think the all the characters are well formed, and the writing style was quite good; it flowed really nicely. Cassie's dreams were very well descriptive. This was such a great novel, and I definitely recommend it!
*My Rating: 4/5
