Link To Other Bewitching Book Tour Stops I'm so glad to be participating in this Bewitching Book Tour. Today there is a Guest Post by Author: Heather Jensen, who wrote Blood And Guitars Book One (Yes there is a second book!). You will definitely want to read this post as there is a musical element (songwriting) that you wont want to miss! I am also hosting a Giveaway and thanks to Heather as one of you will receive a free e-book copy of...you know it, Blood And Guitars! So please enter, because you just never know, you might win! :) But first, you will read a blurb that will take you to a new and exciting read, enjoy! Blurb: When Aurora meets Trey, a famous singer and musician, she’s only hoping to get her fill of human blood for the week. The last thing Aurora expects is for Trey to make her feel alive for the first time since she was, well, alive. It begins with a casual painting lesson at her art studio, The Waking Moon, and quickly turns into a forbidden romance. Aurora is forced to hide her true identity from Trey, while keeping her relationship with the human a secret from other vampires in her Brood. Trey’s band is recording a new album and with Aurora as his muse, Trey is writing songs like never before. After being hired by their record label to paint the album cover, Aurora has a legitimate reason for spending so much time with Trey and his band mates. Aurora can’t deny the unexpected connection she has with Trey, which is fueled by glimpses into his emotions every time they share a kiss. Caught between two worlds, Aurora must attend celebrity award shows and vampire rituals, find time to feed, and protect Trey from the dangers of the night, all while preserving her secrets. And Now Here is the Guest Post!: Music in Fiction: Songs From Blood And Guitars by Heather Jensen I want to thank For The Love of Film And Novels for having me here today. I’m honored to be posting for all of you. A big part of writing the Blood And Guitars series has been songwriting. For my post today, I thought I’d share the lyrics of one of the most influential songs in the first book. First, a little background to where this song fits in the story. Trey, frontman in the band Catalyst, is fighting writer’s block while facing the pressures of recording a new album. He begins to dream about a mystery woman whose face he can’t see clearly. With his mystery woman as his new muse, Trey begins writing again. The song below is a direct result of that inspiration. A short time later Trey meets Aurora, who he doesn’t know is an exceptionally powerful young vampire, and the face of the mystery woman in his dreams fills in. This is the first song Catalyst records for their new record. Midnight Poison (Her Song) Vs. 1 It used to be that I would dream Of things that I can now call mine Successes are a funny thing There’s always something else to find What good is all the fortune found With no one here to share My heart drums a familiar sound A pain I cannot bear Chorus: I spend my days Waiting for the night The hours pass with fading light She’s a poison; I’m addicted To the sweet and secret darkness My nights are hers My dreams are not my own Without a word she speaks to me alone She’s my poison; midnight poison I’m afraid that it’s too late for me Vs. 2 Run away, at least you’ll say you tried I’ve said it once if not a thousand times This perfect beauty in my mind Is something that I cannot find Chorus: I spend my days Waiting for the night The hours pass with fading light She’s a poison; I’m addicted To the sweet and secret darkness My nights are hers My dreams are not my own Without a word she speaks to me alone She’s my poison; midnight poison I’m afraid that it’s too late for me Refrain: Never have I seen her face Waiting for a single trace of (you….) My hope is desperate Chorus: I spend my days Waiting for the night The hours pass with fading light She’s a poison; I’m addicted to the sweet Fatality of … My nights are hers My dreams are not my own Without a word she speaks but I’m alone She’s my poison; midnight poison I’m afraid that it’s too late for me Writing songs has been one of the most rewarding and challenging parts of the Blood And Guitars series. My guitar and my computer keyboard are my therapists. Without them, I’d probably go insane. Have any of you ever dabbled in songwriting? Care to share a line or two of something you’ve written? Giveaway I was talking about! (One Question just to let you know is: What is you're favorite rock song of all time?) |

Blood and Guitars sounds a great read.
ReplyDeleteCreatitivity fascinates me, especially having a son studying art - I hadnt thought much about the agonies of song-writing, but it's an interesting idea.
Would love to win a copy of the book.
Grace x

Paramore is a great band. Haley is one of my favorite singers of all time. I've actually had several Paramore songs on the playlist for Immortals And Melodies (Blood And Guitars #2). ;)
DeleteI just finished reading the two Blood and Guitars books and I have to say they are the best books I have every read. It incorporates all my favorite thing. I love vampires and guitars (being that i am a guitarist) so when I saw this book I had to buy it.
ReplyDeleteThat's great to hear. This is one I hope to read soon :)
