Synopsis:
Skewered Halo is like no other story you have ever read! Diane Montrose wakes up one morning to find out that her entire life has been based upon lies and treachery. Everything she thought she knows… she doesn’t!
It’s bad enough that as a young girl her older sister informed Diane that she was placed on her parents’ doorstep and that she was nothing better than garbage. But when, at the age of eighteen, she finally informed her parents of the story they denied the whole thing, yet still sided with the treacherous sister. To make matters worse her sister managed to dictate everything in Diane’s life even though she didn’t know it!
Follow along as the lies, treachery and mystery surrounding Diane are uncovered….. or are they??
My Review:
Wow...Just wow. When I first saw the cover of this novel, I perhaps expected a sibling type rivalry story, then I read the synopsis, then the story. It literally blew me away and now I'm back saying that this is a sister relationship, if you can call it that, one that I will not forget. There were definitely twists in this story, and to me there seemed liked abrupt stops by the end of some chapters, but as the story progressed, I see how it benefits the story. This is a story that takes place through Diane's (the good sister and really the main character) entire life, from when she was a baby to her mid forties. I do like how we are with her throughout her sometimes nice, and sometimes disastrous journey. Some of this takes place when she is in college, and when she finally gets there she tries to make a new person out of herself, a person different from the one that was constantly being stepped over by her older sister Brittany (the bad one, just so you know). Those four years away, she faces horrible situations, and it seems that bad events happen to her throughout her life. She does have some sweet times with two people, that to me, seemed like they showed Diane, what good life can really be. (You have to read and find out who those two...guys are, hint.) :) But, we also see Diane enter in a marriage that seems mysterious to begin with, and you will see what happens. I was stunned, honestly, to see Diane was still being troubled by her past without her knowing! You will see and be shocked too; I promise you. This is a story that has family conflict, suspense, passion, and good old mystery. For me, I wish there were more situations solved; there seemed to be a few cliff hangers, you might see this too, and I definitely wanted those answered, but all in all, this was a story that definitely had me turning the pages, and it was a great mysterious read!
