I thought I’d share why I picked Hollywood as a backdrop.

Why? Because I love movies. I mean love, love them. If I’m not buried in a book, I’m watching a movie. I have movies that I ‘fall back on’ to help me with my own character development, setting, and tone.

A few that had a significant impact on Hollywood Ever After:

I guess it’s a little obvious I’m a movie-holic. But if it’s not – I will come forth right now and say, “Yes, I am a movie addict. I am full of ridiculously useless tidbits of entertainment trivia and I am proud.”

Since I’ve let that cat out of the bag, I thought I’d mention a couple of movies that inspired and influenced Hollywood Ever After.

- Notting Hill – British hero, American heroine. Okay, my hero is the movie star and my heroine is the ‘nobody’ but you can see where I’m going with this. I can only hope my ensemble is half as awesome as the one in this film!

- The Holiday – Yes, Hollywood Ever After has an instant love story – similar to Jude Law and Cameron Diaz’ hook. Difference, neither Josh nor Claire click are drunk when they meet. Which I prefer. Also, I loved the children in this movie. I liked that they added, versus being ‘used’ as a gimmick. I worked very hard to make Claire’s children real characters versus tools or plot devices.

 - Love Actually – The sheer British-ness of it! The phenomenal cast of characters that you love…I’m certain this book is now the first in a series because too many great characters evolved in Hollywood Ever After – they need their own stories! :)

  - My Big Fat Greek Wedding – Huge family drama. Heroine finding herself. Hero who does whatever it takes to have the heroine… Yep!

When I write, I use my Hollywood fixation. How? My characters tend to come to life while I’m writing – portrayed by actors and actresses that I adore. This can be easy or not so easy – but it’s always fun! By the end of the story I usually have a very solid and-I think-Academy Award winning ensemble.  LOL!

What do you think? Do you have a book you’d want made into a movie? Who would you cast? Let me know. And if you read Hollywood Ever After, I’d love to hear who you think would make the best Claire and Josh!

Hollywood Ever After

Release Date July 14, 2012

She wasn’t meant for movie stars, Hollywood, or happy endings. And then she met him.

Blurb
Happy Endings are for fairy tales. Or the movies. Not for real life. At least, not Claire’s life. Even though she’s starting over, she knows better than to want too much this time. But when she falls, literally, into the strong arms of Hollywood’s ‘it’ boy Josh Wiley, Claire’s in for some surprises.

Her plans for rest and relaxation are forgotten as one incredible night with Josh becomes two…

And her heart begins to want him as much as her body. Will two kids, one bastard ex-husband, and Josh’s juggernaut career mean the end of their affair?
Or can Claire find her happy ending after all?

My Rating: 5/5
I say a R Rating (Adult Content with some Violent Content)

Wow. This is what came to mind, after I finished Sasha Summer's beautiful story. I want to mention first that I love to connect with the characters, and see how they can be relatable to the readers, and to me there were relatable issues here. I definitely felt for Claire. She has been through a lot in her only thirty-five years of living. She has two wonderful children, an abusive ex-husband who just can't seem to let go of Claire, nor his family; but then there is the movie star, Josh Wiley. Oh, well he was wonderfully written, and if I might add, with a British Accent? Yes, Please. I was hooked into the story from the part when he and Claire meet each other, or rather Claire accidentally almost trips on the red carpet, and Josh quickly comes to her aide, like he does in the rest of the story. (Happy Sigh) This was just a feel good story to me, and it mostly takes place in L.A. and England, which I absolutely loved! Summers is just a wonderful writer, and so descriptive with everything really. To me, nothing seemed out of place; everything felt real, especially the romance between Claire and Josh. Their romance is one not to miss! Also, I loved that he and her best friend Shannon encouraged her to a talent that she seems to possess, writing. Towards the end, I did feel emotional, but there could also be some sort hint of hope; you just have to read this story for yourself to see what happens. This was just a great story, and I'm so happy to have read it. Summers, as I said, is a fantastic writer, and if you have not read her work yet, you definitely should! :)

About The Author
Sasha Summers is part gypsy. Her passions have always been storytelling, history, romance, and travel. She writes both lyrical romantic fantasy and contemporary romance. Her first play was written for her Girl Scout troupe. She's been writing ever since.

She loves getting lost in the worlds and characters she creates; even if she frequently forgets to run the dishwasher or wash socks when she's doing so. Luckily, her four brilliant children and hero-inspiring hubby are super understanding and supportive.
