Risking It All By: Jennifer Schmidt

*Thank you NetGalley for providing a Review copy for my honest review!*

*And Just To Let You Know, this is an Adult Read, and there are some Erotica elements, so I do Recommend this as an 18+!!

Goodreads Description

Kennedy Monroe barely got her foot in her college dorm her freshman year before she was being warned about a certain dark-haired, blue-eyed self-proclaimed Casanova. There were only so many tales of heartache – and incredibly steamy nights – she could listen to before she started to believe them. But after a run in with the most sought after college womanizer, her ill feelings toward him change and soon a friendship forms that surprises everyone.

Twelve years later Kennedy and Memphis Adams are closer than ever - and only friends despite what those around them think, including Kennedy’s boyfriend Ian Brooks. When Kennedy accepts an invitation to vacation in Alaska from Memphis, her relationship with Brooks is tested as is her restraint when it comes to the desire she has always had for her best friend.

Alone with Memphis in Alaska, Kennedy finds it increasingly harder to ignore temptation and wants nothing more than to give into her secret desires with the one man that has always been off limits. But is one night of passion worth the possible risk of losing their friendship over?

Feeling torn between doing the right thing and doing what she wants, Kennedy fears losing her best friend. She knows she needs to sort out her feelings for the two men in her life and deal with the consequences of her actions, but how can she when everything seems to be falling apart so fast? And how much can Memphis take before he’s pushed too far and can no longer take Kennedy’s inability to make a decision about what and who she wants?

Kennedy discovers the harsh reality of how one night can change everything and leave her risking it all.

Review

This was an all right story. It had some good aspects, and I believe there was a good amount of history given to make us believe that Kennedy and Memphis have been best friends for 12 years, and why they have not taken a step closer to something more intimate. But, it looks like, even after a long, long friendship, it's just not enough, and when these two are in Alaska for one of Memphis's jobs, they do start something, and Wow, the sex scenes were written well, and yeah... you can just read and feel how long they have put their intense feelings for each other, when they are finally together!

But, of course there is a problem, because Kennedy has a boyfriend, and how is she going to break it off with him, when she and Kennedy want something more together? Does she tell her boyfriend? Well, you're going to have to read on your own for those answers! :)

Throughout the story, there are many emotions described, and a lot comes from Kennedy, on making an impossible decision, to stay friends with Memphis or not, after they have slept together, to break things off with her current boyfriend. It seems, there was just a lot of stuff, that Kennedy has to deal with, and at times, I thought there were too much emotions written, and other times I just wanted to shake Kennedy and to tell her 'To Calm The Heck Down!" but I do say they were believable emotions, and I do understand why she felt this or that, but I think, it was just a little over done.

I think Memphis was a good male character, and I believe that he is some sort of Casanova, as he is written to be. I would have liked to read a little more about his past, even before he met Kennedy, to really understand why he's not interested in long term relationships. The chemistry he has with Kennedy, is definitely Steaming, and I was rooting for him at times, when I thought he definitely was right for Kennedy, or when I thought, well, maybe he should move on, because Kennedy just can't make a freaking decision! But... I did all in all, like how the story went; I just wished there was a bit of a longer ending to get real closure. Maybe there is going to be a second book? I don't know, but this was a good Romantic story that will make you root for these two friends/lovers. :)

My Rating: 3.5/5
Definitely Rated-R! (Sex scenes & Some Language)
