Hey everyone! I will be Reviewing Barbie Girl soon, but today, I'm so happy to post an Interview with Author Heidi Acosta and she's Giving Away Two E-Book Copies of Any Format via Smashwords of Barbie Girl, so you will see the Rafflecopter Giveaway below! :)
First, a Goodreads Book Description for:
Barbie Girl
(This is a YA Contemporary Romance)
The only thing that 17 year old Barbie Starr wants to do is graduate high school so she and her little brother, Everett, can get out of Alabama. She doesn’t care about the rumors that are spread around about her like wild fire. Rumors are nothing new to her. Sure, maybe she could change her reputation, but why bother. She is leaving Alabama as soon as she can. That is, if she can pass algebra and graduate.
The only thing Dylan Knight would like to do is go through high school unnoticed; he has had enough of the drama that is high school. He took the whole of last summer to bulk-up: finally he is not being called names or being shoved into lockers. He wants to remain on the outside of the circle of constant rumors that surround the so-called popular kids who get all the attention. He would not, however, mind if his long time crush Katie took notice of him.
But it is Barbie who notices Dylan and she offers him a deal he can’t pass up: if he helps her pass algebra, she’ll help him get the girl of his dreams. Dylan agrees, but, as it turns out, nothing is simple when it comes to Barbie. Somehow, she can’t help but draw attention to herself — and to him. Soon Dylan finds himself tossed into the whirlwind of rumors that seem to follow Barbie everywhere. Can he save his reputation and still get the girl of his dreams? Or will Barbie be the one to break through his carefully-built facade?

My Interview With Heidi
- Tell us a little about you : )
Let’s see. I am a mother, wife, sister, a coffee drinker,
obsessed with books, a little impatient, a shoe shopper, and a college student.
- What inspired you to write Barbie Girl?
Barbie was a character from another book I was working on. Her
story seemed so much more important to tell that I dropped the other book and
started writing Barbie Girl.
- How did you come up with the title?
Well, of course her name is Barbie. The title is a contradiction
to what you may think when you hear Barbie Girl. Just like her character, she
is not what people think she is.
- How long did it take to write?
3 months in total.
- Which character(s) was/were the most fun writing?
Third was a lot of fun to write. I think everyone knows
someone or has a friend just like Third. He is relatable and just a cool
kid.
- Are there any messages that you want your readers to see?
What is that?
The message I would like to get across is the
importance of not judging someone. You don't know their story or what they live
with every day.
- Which actors do you see playing the main characters?
For Barbie, Ana Sophia Robb. Maybe it is the hair and eyes.
And for Dylan, Matt Prokophe. He is just such a cutie.
- When did you first decide to become a writer?
I have always wanted to ever since I could spell. But it was
not until last year that I decided that I should really do it. I cannot see myself
doing anything else.
- Is there a place you especially like to write?
Starbucks! I always get a vanilla latte with soy milk and
whipped cream .I am convinced that when I drink it, it makes me a better
writer.
- What are you currently working on?
I am working on
the second installment of the Baby Doll series, Barbie World, and another top
secret book ;)
- For aspiring
writers, do you have any advice for them?
Write, write,
and write! No matter what is going on, write! Even if it is for fifteen minutes
a day, write.
- Who are your
ultimate favorite Authors?
There are so many that I adore and look up to as writers but
my idols have to be Simone Elkeles , Kelly Creagh, and of course, the
amazing JK Rowling.
- Have you read any books lately? Which ones?
I just finished
Opal by Jennifer-Armentrout and Beautiful Redemption by Kami Garcia and
Margaret Stohl. Both books were equally amazing.
- Do you have a favorite film(s)? What is it?
I love
Grease, Mean Girls, and any teen ‘80s movie.
- Film you are looking forward to see in theaters?
Beautiful
Creature and Warm Bodies. I cannot wait!!!
- What TV show do you have to see on a daily basis?
I have
three that I love to watch: Glee (because I secretly wish that life was like a
musical where everyone just burst into song when you break up or when
you are buying a coffee.) My other two favorites are the Vampire Diaries, and
the Voice.
- Location of place you have never visited but want to some
day?
Juliet’s balcony in Italy. So romantic-*Sigh*
- What is your perfect idyllic place to write if you had the
chance to travel to any place around the world?
It definitely would be
someplace in Europe. I would find some little coffee shop and just hole up
in there the whole time and write.
- What are your resolutions for this year?
I have three.
1. To write, write, write.
2. Travel someplace new.
3. To find more time to read.
- Thank you for answering my Qs! ~Marissa : )
About The Author
(From Goodreads)
Heidi Acosta was born on Long Island, New York. Moving around a lot when she was younger, she has lived in New York, Arizona, New York (again), Washington, Georgia, and Florida, in that order. Each place offered her something special, but she will always consider New York her home.
Heidi started writing as soon as she could spell. When she was three, Heidi’s mother gave her a copy of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House in the Big Woods; thus beginning her lifelong love affair with literature.
Writing soon also became a form of therapy for Heidi, when she realized that no matter what was happening in her life, she could find emotional escape while writing. Some of her earliest stories featured her as a princess who explored new worlds with her horse Buttercup. If it sounds romantic, it wasn’t, there was no prince charming in those fairy lands (boys where yucky).
Heidi now resides in Florida with her husband, very active daughter, one hyper Chihuahua, two sweet cats, and one very fat moody cat.
Barbie Girl is the first Novel of Heidi’s new, four-book, Baby Doll Series: Barbie Girl, Barbie World, Doll Face, and Southern Sugar.
