Book Description: Find You in the Dark
(From Goodreads)
Maggie Young had the market on normal. Normal friends, normal parents, normal grades...normal life.
Until him.
Clayton Reed was running from his past and an army of personal demons that threatened to take him down. He never thought he had a chance at happiness.
Until her.
Maggie thought their love could overcome anything. Clay thought she was all he needed to fix his messy life.
That together, they could face the world.
But the darkness is always waiting.
Sometimes the greatest obstacle to true love is within yourself.
Until him.

About The Author
(From Goodreads)
I've been writing since I was a little kid. I've always gotten lost in the stories going on in my head. I've just finally started doing something more than thinking about them.
I'm the author of Irresistible Fear, the first in a paranormal romance trilogy about a girl and her demon boyfriend. I have also recently published my first contemporary romance book Find You in the Dark. A dark story about the love between a girl and boy with bi-polar disorder. I have an upcoming contemporary romance called Bad Rep, to be released before the end of the year.
I spent ten years as a counselor for at risk teens and children. First working at a Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault program and then later a program for children with severe emotional and mental health issues. My former clients and their stories continue to influence every aspect of my writing.
I recently moved to England and am trying to get used to driving on the other side of the road, eating fish and chips and all things British :-)

Holy Smokes! First, I have to write, that I found this novel to be one Fantastic yet one Intense Read and...Walters is seriously now one of my New favorite Authors! :)
Now...Find You in the Dark is one Roller Coaster of Emotions. I believe it's New Adult, but I would definitely say a much more Mature New Adult Contemporary Romance. There are definitely Realistic issues written here but for me, I liked it, very much. The story is told from the POV of Maggie Young. She's a senior in high school, has a good relationship with her parents, has two best friends, gets good grades, is basically the star of the Cross Country Team, but there's something missing in Maggie's as described, 'normal and boring' life and what she thinks is missing, is someone she literally bumps into, Clayton Reed, but with Clay, Maggie finds that he is anything but normal. They find themselves into one complicated relationship, one that Maggie would have never imagined, but they love each other so much that the biggest threat is a darkness that Clay knows too well, and this time, it might take him for good.
What I really liked about this story, is first, the characters. Maggie and Clay, were just written really well. There was enough of a background story, especially of Clay's where I just feel I understood them and even found some relatable situations. Even the minor characters, Daniel and Rachel, were fitted so well into this story, and there's going to be a Novella on just them, so believe me, I look forward to reading that one, as there are definite hints, here and there, of something possible between those two best friends.
But...back to Clay and Maggie. Now, in the beginning, I felt there was something about Clay, that would explain his mood swings and just his odd behavior, and Maggie even wonders what the heck is the matter with him! Now, I don't want to give too much, even though I'm itching to write more, but I feel this is just a story you should read and find for yourself, what the issue with Clay is... But with him, and he explains it (of which I was so happy about!) that he basically was born to parents that are more into themselves than their only child, and once they found out what I guess, is wrong with Clay, they distance themselves even more, and acknowledging him, well that just couldn't happen, with their big lives, career and all. I have to say, I felt for Clay, and he is definitely a different kind of character, than male characters I read about, but I don't know, he just seems so realistic, and his behavior and all, just fits with what is happening inside him, and I'm just so glad that Maggie is there, as best as she can be anyway. I'm not going to lie, there are some dark scenes here, and sometimes, I was just a tab upset on how Clay was treating others including Mags, and sorries, especially to her, would not cut it, but then I got to think, would would I do? If I were in Maggie's shoes, and hmm well, I just continued on reading.
With Maggie, I really liked her; she's definitely a strong character, with a fun personality and I can feel the love she has towards Clay, and I can understand why she goes with him, after he sometimes roughly pushes her away, but she explains why she keeps wanting to be Clay, and jeez, some of their scenes are heart breaking, and honestly, I was just a little apprehensive towards the end, because seriously, I feel it ended well, like it should, for the benefit of these two characters, but ahh I wanted more, and then...I saw there's going to be a SEQUEL and I literally sighed with relief, because I just felt that Maggie's and Clay's story was SO.NOT.OVER! So, I'm pretty happy with how things went now, and I just look forward to what Happens Next... :)
My Rating: 4.8/5
I say a Rated-R (Some Strong Language, Violent Content & Sexuality)
