Book Description

Betwixt - I chose this title because it fit the story so well. Nicole is caught between life and death, she's caught between a good life and a bad one and she's caught between a decision. She's trapped and she needs someone to come and find her and rescue her.
Lost - Not only is Nicole lost in the forest throughout this book, but she is also lost in her life.
High School - You know that expression "That's SO high school!" Well this story is like that a little for me. I remember the different groups and cliques in high school and this story touches on some of that... it really is SO high school.
Love - This is a really important aspect of the book. Love comes in many different forms and Nicole has been experiencing the false kind for a few years and finally she glimpses the real, unconditional kind and she can't help but be drawn to it.
Forgiveness - There are many wrongs done in the story and they need to be righted in order for Nicole to move forward in her life. It is a huge struggle for her and it was really fascinating watching her deal with it.
Humour - Because this is quite an intense story, dealing with some deep issues, I wanted to make sure it had its light moments too. The banter between Dale and Nicole is quite humorous - well it is to me anyway :) I really enjoyed writing all their scenes together.

Melissa Pearl was born in Auckland, New Zealand, but has spent much of her life abroad, living in countries such as Jordan, Cyprus and Pakistan... not to mention a nine month road trip around North America with her husband. "Best. Year. Ever!!" She now lives in China with her husband and two sons. She is a trained elementary teacher, but writing is her passion. Since becoming a full time mother she has had the opportunity to pursue this dream and her debut novel hit the internet in November, 2011. Since then she has produced three more books with her fifth novel, Betwixt, due out in November 2012.
