Jillian Dodd's Writing Cave

The Writer’s Cave: I hate routine, so while I do have a very nice office, I don’t always use it. I either work in my office or outside on our covered patio.

This is my desk chair. Nice and padded for long hours sitting on it.

And I LOVE my Nebraska pillow.

This is the current view on my desk right now. I had to close the blinds because it was too sunny, but I have a great view of the back yard. This room has two sides of windows. You can see my bulletin board full of inspiration for That Wedding. If you look closely, you will also see numerous owls and the framed photo is a photo of my grandparents wedding.

This armoire stores all my books and swag. The painting on the top is one of my favorites. Pretty much all the paintings in our home were painted by me. It’s my favorite hobby.

This is the other side of the room. I have a cozy fireplace, another Jillian painting, and a couple other special things. The teapots were my Great Grandmother’s, the globe lamp is antique and refurbished by my dad, and the map hanging on the wall is the county I grew up in from 1913 and lists land owner’s names written by hand. Many of the family names on the map were families I grew up with.

If I’m not working in my office, I can be found sitting on the cover porch overlooking our backyard. Our property is about an acre and the dogs prefer I work here. This is Camber Lacy and Cali Lucy.

Jillian Dodd grew up on a farm in Nebraska, where she developed a love for Midwestern boys and Nebraska football. She has drank from a keg in a cornfield, attended the University of Nebraska, got to pass her candle, and did have a boy ask her to marry him in a bar. She met her own prince in college, and they have two amazing children, a Maltese named Sugar Bear, and two Labrador puppies named Camber Lacy and Cali Lucy.
